Business Licensing

A business license is required for each business, occupation, or profession within the Town of Estes Park which consists of selling goods, wares, merchandise or services, the performing or rendering of service for charge, the leasing, renting or furnishing of accommodation units, and the carrying on or engaging in any non-residential business. Each business conducted at a separate location, regardless of ownership, shall obtain and maintain a separate business license.
 
The Town Board approved a reduction to the 2020 Business License fees for General, Home, Building Contractor and Accommodations.

NOTE: All Business License Renewals are due January 31 of each year.

Payments received after January 31 of each calendar year will be assessed a penalty of $200 in addition to the licensing fee.

General Business License

A General Business license is required for a business, profession or occupation that consists of the selling of goods, wares, merchandise or providing a professional service (outside the home). This category also applies to any non-resident business, profession, occupation, or professional service. (A non-resident business is defined as a business whose business premises is located outside the corporate limits of the Town.)
Cost: Fifty dollars ($50) per year.

Building Contractor Business License

A Building Contractor business license is required for a business, profession or occupation whose primary business is in the physical construction of structures and their appurtenances.
Cost: Fifty dollars ($50) per year.

Home Business License

A Home business license is required for a business, profession or occupation conducted by the resident within or from a dwelling (inside the Estes Valley) as an accessory use to the residential use of the dwelling, excluding a building contractor or an accommodation business.
NOTE: The Home license category does not apply to non-resident home-based businesses.
Cost: Fifty dollars ($50) per year.

Mobile Food Vending

Outdoor Mobile Food Vendors are permitted in: A, CD, CO, CH, I1 Zoning Districts
Outdoor Mobile Food Vendor; shall mean any person, whether as owner, agent, consignee or employee, who sells or attempts to sell, or who offers to the public free of charge, any services, goods, wares or merchandise, including, but not limited to, food or beverage, from any licensed vehicle (carts prohibited). 
Cost: Twenty five dollars ($25) per year.

Accommodations Business License

An Accommodations business license is required for the leasing, rental or furnishing of any room, mobile home, recreational vehicle, camp site, or other area in a visitor-serving facility that provides temporary lodging, such as any hotel, motel, guest house, apartment, dormitory, mobile home park, recreational vehicle park or campground, or any such similar place, to any person whom, for a consideration, uses, possesses, or has the right to use or possess such room, mobile home site, recreational vehicle site, camp site or other area for a total continuous duration of less than thirty (30) days.

Bed & Breakfast Registration

A Bed and Breakfast Registration is required for the temporary lodging of guests in a residential dwelling unit that is rented, leased or occupied for accommodations purposes and is operator-occupied on a full-time basis.

In the Town of Estes Park Limits: Two hundred dollars ($200.00) base fee per year; fifty dollars ($50.00) for each bedroom

Changes to license/registration information:

How do I indicate changes to my business license, vacation home or bed and breakfast information? To update License information Please indicate any changes to the information on file with the Clerk's office by completing a Change of Information form for Bed and Breakfast and Vacation Home Registrations, or updated Business Licenses Application. Return to the Clerk's office by email at townclerk@estes.org or by mail to Attn: Town Clerk's Office, P. O Box 1200, Estes Park, CO 80517.

License & Registration Communication:

How will I receive information regarding my license or registration? All communication regarding license and registrations will be done by email, a valid email address is required for all Business Licenses and Registrations. All invoices and licenses/registrations are emailed through a document management system. If the invoice or license/registration is not received in a timely manner, please ensure the email has not gone to a spam folder and recognize the email address for future correspondence. If still not found, please call the Clerk's Office at 970-577-4777.

Invoice or License/Registration not received:

What if I did not receive my invoice or license/registration? Invoices are emailed as a courtesy in mid December for issuance in the following year. All invoices and licenses/registrations are emailed through a document management system. If the invoice or license/registration is not received in a timely manner, please ensure the email has not gone to a spam folder and recognize the email address for future correspondence. If still not found, please call the Clerk's Office at 970-577-4777.

Online Payments:

How do I remit my renewal payment online? Payment can be made online by visiting payments page. License or registration number will be required which can be found on the renewal invoice/statement or by calling a Clerk's office staff member at 970-577-4777. If changes have been indicated on the invoice/statement and have been submitted to the Clerk's office, do not select "Changes?" when making payment online.

Credit Card Fees:

If I pay online how much is the transaction and service fee? All credit card payments made online are subject to a $0.75 transaction fee and 2.25% processing fee. These fees are collected by the State of Colorado and are automatically applied on the payment portal.

License/Registration Expiration:

My license/registration expires December 31 of each year. Should I be concerned if I do not turn in my renewal before then? Although licenses/registrations expire on December 31 of each year a grace period of January 31 of each year is in place for submitting required renewal paperwork and applicable fee. Residential zoned vacation homes which do not register by the deadline shall forfeit their registration and are subject to reapplication and cap limits.
