Building Safety

SAFEbuilt

Since 2020, the Town has contracted its building division services through SAFEbuilt. SAFEbuilt uses an online permitting system called Community Core and Community Connect.

Community Connect Public Portal is now available for residents and professional contractors. Through this portal, you can:

  • Obtain all permits
  • Request inspections
  • View inspection results

Register with Community Connect. Once you have been added, you will receive an email from CommunityCore-account setup. Click the link in the email to complete the account setup. Then you will be ready to go! (If you don't see the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder, too.)

Professional contractors must be licensed through the Town of Estes Park and should register as a "Contractor". Please note: You must have a current contractor license to apply for a permit. License renewal can be done through your account. Residents applying for a permit should register as a "Community Member."

Building Permit Fees
Building permit fees help cover the cost of reviewing plans, issuing permits, and performing inspections to ensure that construction meets safety and code requirements.

How Fees Are Calculated

Permit fees are based on the valuation of the project (the total cost of labor and materials). The valuation is used to determine the base permit fee in accordance with the Town’s adopted fee schedule. Additional fees may apply for specific reviews or services. Typical Fees Include:

  • Building Permit Fee – Based on project valuation
  • Plan Review Fee – Fifty percent of the building permit fee
  • Use Tax – Calculated by multiplying 50% of the project valuation by 8%

Permit fees are typically due at the time the permit is issued.  All fees must be paid in full before construction begins.
