Performance Park Bridge

About The Project

This bridge crosses Fall River directly south of the Performance Park Amphitheater. It is believed to have been built in the 1960's. During the summer of 2024, rotation and displacement of the north abutment from river scour was observed and the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic. Additional movement was observed in the spring of 2025 and the bridge was closed to all traffic.

In June 2025, maintenance staff from the Town of Estes Park Public Works Street and Stormwater Division teamed with a private contractor to remove the bridge deck. This demolition work was a preemptive effort to avert a potential blockage and flood overflow in the river if the bridge were to collapse.

Design efforts for a replacement bridge will commence in 2025 in preparation for construction of a new bridge, tentatively in 2026. All work is part of the new stormwater management program funded in part by the one percent sales tax approved by voters under the 2014 Ballot Issue 1A.
