The Estes Park Emergency Communications Center (EPECC) is embedded within the Estes Park Police Department (EPPD) facility and is the primary 9-1-1 Public Service Answering Point for the entire Estes Valley.
As a consolidated dispatch center, EPECC serves the Estes Park Police Department, Estes Park Health's Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Estes Valley Fire Protection District, Glen Haven Fire Department and various municipal departments. EPECC also dispatches EMS to Allenspark, Pinewood Springs, and Big Elk Meadows, and provides dispatching services in the evening hours for Rocky Mountain National Park.
EPECC is staffed with 8 emergency communication officers (dispatchers) and one communications manager who perform these services with the use of top of the line technology, and is overseen by the Estes Park Police Department Support Services Captain.
Access Granted is a program that allows participants to provide a gate code, door code, hide-a-key, lockbox, etc. that could help responders reach you in an emergency. All information remains confidential. Please fill out the Access Granted form to participate.

- Frequently Asked Questions
If I call 911 on my cell phone in Estes Park, where will the call go?
The call, in most cases, will be routed to the Estes Park Police Department. It is important to know your approximate location to help us locate you. Cell phone carriers do provide location information on 911 calls to a degree but the technology is not always reliable, especially in the mountainous regions of Estes Park. 911 calls will always route to the nearest PSAP; the area code of your cell phone number will not affect that.
When are you open? Can I call anytime?
The Estes Park Police Department and dispatch center is a 24-hour operation, every day of the year.
Can dispatch give medical advice?
Although all of the dispatchers serving Estes Park are certified to provide Emergency Medical Dispatch, or EMD, they are not qualified to give medical "advice". These questions are referred to a doctor's office or the hospital emergency room after hours. EMD provides dispatchers with instructions to give callers that are in emergency medical situations. Dispatchers will give instructions from the EMD protocol to assist the patient and caller until EMS arrives.
Why am I asked all these questions when I call 911? I just want help.
The first thing a dispatcher needs to do is verify your location and get a call back number. We can't help you if we can't find you and if the call is disconnected we can't help you if we can't reach you. Dispatchers will then ask you questions specific to the situation you are in or calling about. The questions are intended to get the most information possible for first responders.
Who does EPECC "dispatch" for?
The center dispatches for the Estes Park Police Department, Estes Park Fire Protection District, Glen Haven Area Volunteer Fire Department and the Estes Park Health Ambulance & Emergency Medical Services. The center also dispatches for Rocky Mountain National Park rangers after-hours and the Town of Estes Park Utilities after-hours.
